Peter is one of the founders of LL&A, where he practices in all areas of intellectual property counseling, licensing and business transactions, patent prosecution and product clearance, trademark adoption, clearance and enforcement, copyright and trade secret counseling, and due diligence. Before founding LL&A, Peter was a shareholder at a Boston intellectual property law firm, where he co-chaired the Chemical Practice Group, sat on the Executive Committee, chaired the Marketing Committee, and also was a member of the Mechanical, Trademark, IP Transactions, and Opinion Practice Groups.
Peter is a past-President of the Boston Patent Law Association. For several years, Peter taught patent practice and procedure at Franklin Pierce Law Center. He has spoken to several industry, client, and student groups on a wide variety of intellectual property topics; he has also written, and has been quoted in, many related articles and notes for local and national publications. Peter is a Charter Member of the Dean's Leadership Council of Franklin Pierce Law Center; he is also a member of the Drexel University College of Engineering Advisory Council, and a Recipient of the 2006 Alumni Circle of Distinction Award. Peter obtained his law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center, where he focused on Intellectual Property Law. While in law school, Peter became a patent agent and worked for Cabot Corporation where he developed practice skills -- and an acute sensitivity to the operation and concerns of in-house legal/IP departments, which he maintains in his current practice. Prior to entering intellectual property law, Peter received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. He was employed by BASF Chemicals Corporation in process engineering, business planning, marketing, research and product development. While working for BASF, Peter attended many programs in industrial chemistry. He also studied German at New York University, and obtained an MBA in Management from Rutgers University.
These experiences have helped Peter to provide broad-based intellectual property counseling for his clients. Peter manages large IP portfolios for several multinational clients, and has performed numerous due diligence investigations for acquisitions and business transactions. He has drafted and prosecuted many patents that have been successfully enforced in court and/or licensed. In addition, he has provided creative trademark counsel resulting in unique registration and enforcement strategies. One client's IP portfolio has been valued at more than $1.5 billion.
