IP at Pierce Law: Moot Court Opportunities
This site is brought to you by the IP Mall along with the Franklin Pierce Law Center Moot Court Board. The mission of the Board is to educate students as to available Moot Court opportunities. FPLC offers over fifty intellectual property or closely related courses -- several more than once annually. Most courses are open to Graduate Program and J.D. students who have the necessary backgrounds. Moreover, our formal classes are supplemented by national and international moot court competitions for credit. Students who participate in moot court competitions gain skills in both written and oral advocacy. Interest, rather than grade point average (GPA) or class rank, determines participation. Students are able to choose their competition, secure faculty sponsorship and coaching, work out internal selection procedures to select the team, and then do the research, writing, and practice necessary to prepare professional solutions to the problems posed for the contests.
Pierce Law students have historically enjoyed regional and national success in these events. They typically compete in trial advocacy (criminal and civil), health law, international law, intellectual property (patents and trademarks), cyberlaw, client counseling, appellate advocacy, and corporate law. The following are the available intellectual property and related moot court opportunities:
